LIMBURG QUALIFIED FOR THE CUP FINAL
Tuesday 8th February 2022

Defeated at home in the first leg (70-72), Hubo Limburg United reversed the trend in the second leg against Okapi Aalst (76-84). A victory that allows the Limburgers to secure their place in the final of the Belgian Cup on March 13 at Forest National.

Limburg United had to win by at least three points on the floor of Aalst to reach the final of the Cup.  The beginning of the game was in favor of Aalst (16-10) and they were slightly ahead at the break (32-30).  After the break, Limburg United’s coach made a tactical change by replacing Cliff Hammonds in defense on Paulius Valinskas. This choice was a success, especially as Anthony Lambot (21 points) was successful in attack. In ten minutes, the visitors completely turned the tide to go to 49-52 after 30 minutes. With confidence, Limburg United relied on its success at free throws (26/33) to win (76-84). Jack Pagenkopf was Aalst’s top scorer with 19 points.

The other semi-final will pit Antwerp against Ostend. The first leg is scheduled for February 14 in Ostend. The second leg will take place two days later in Antwerp.
